hi Daniel,

alright thanks. Yes I got the message. So what I was doing i the first place was expected behavior. I will inquire about hiring to make that menu/menutype import profile if we decide to do that. Thanks!

Hi Daniel,

I just sent the info via the contact form. I couldn't attach my csv to it, so I sent it separately to the support email. Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Nothing can be seen in the CSV file screenshot. Please share your backend login and CSV file via Contact us form, We'll look into it.

Thanks
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I've added a screenshot of my csv file to show what I was using for the data.

If I import with this, it will report success, but the menu won't appear under the Menu heading. The menu item is imported though, even though it shows nowhere.

I now used the default "Import Joomla Menus" profile with no changes and the result was the same.

Hi,
First of all let me clarify, you first need to create Menutypes and then you can import Menus. Menu types must already be there in the database before you import menus belonging to that Menutype. However as you said you are creating the menu first and then importing these, This is not how it is supposed to work. You should be able to directly import the Menus. Can you please share the CSV file screenshot you are trying to import along with the profile settings screenshot or share the access to your site backend directly via Contact us form, We'll look into it.

Thanks
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

sure, if I just use the default "Import Joomla Menus" profile, it does appear to import successfully, but then neither my menu or my menu items can be seen or found via search.

However, they go somewhere in the database, because if I try to import the same thing again I get an error saying:

The alias my-new-menu is already being used by My New Menu menu item in the menu (remember it may be a trashed item).
Import Failed

So because of this I first made my menus that did not already exist, then ran the import and it seemed to work fine. From this I concluded that the menu would not be created on the fly with the provided Import Joomla Menus profile.

But is that supposed to work?

Hello,
Why you had to create the Menus before importing those? Can you please let us know the error/issue you had when you tried to import menu without creating first?

Thanks
Daniel

Hi all, I've just bought vData and used it successfully to import almost 100 menu items spread out over 50 menus (menutypes). Saved me a ton of work.

However, in some cases I had to go and create those menus first before I could import into them.

Ideally I would just do all of that in one import, but how can I make this happen?

So far I've tried setting up a profile with the #__menu_types import first, and then adding the #__menu fields at the bottom.

This does not work, though. I just get a pop-up that simply says "error". So there's not much to go on here. I have a screenshot of my (non-working) setup.

Can anyone provide me with the correct way to set this up? Thanks!
